Assembly offers personalized mentorship for artists at all levels, from anywhere in the world. Our approach prioritizes one-on-one conversations and direct feedback and can be tailored for short or long-term support.

We can help you strategize, research, and develop various kinds of projects. Whether you are putting together your first exhibition or publication or preparing for a museum show or monograph, we’re here to help you make it a success. We can use our time together to discuss any aspects of your work, completed projects, works-in-process, books, short and long-term career goals, and any other ideas you may have. We bring our varied experience and expertise in many aspects of the field, and we're excited to work with you to shape meetings that will make the time most valuable and interesting for you.

The initial consultation meeting is designed to get to know each other and discuss your primary goals, interests, and ideas. We recommend planning on at least two additional sessions following the initial meeting. If you have any questions prior, please feel free to get in touch.

*If you are experiencing financial need, please contact us to discuss possibilities.

Consultations are led by Assembly’s director, Shane Lavalette. The one-on-one conversations are tailored to your interests, and we prioritize time to not just identify goals but to take concrete steps towards achieving them.

Director, Assembly

“Working with Assembly has been incredibly enjoyable and rewarding. They helped me find a fitting publisher for a book project that I've been working on for the past few years. The services were comprehensive and included: reviewing my project with me, brainstorming possible publishers, referrals to the best of our list, advice about how to reach out, and finally reviewing a contract with a book publisher. Assembly gave excellent advice, and you won’t find anyone more connected and considerate.”

Working with Assembly has been a delight and a game-changer. Respect for your time and budget, along with a willingness to advise on reaching a wild dream are great qualities in an artist’s consultant!

“Great investment of my time and money scheduling a consult with Assembly. I recently got serious about selling fine art prints of my photo series. After securing gallery representation I needed to consider sizing, editioning, and pricing of my work. Via a Zoom session, Assembly helped me set up a Google spreadsheet that would help keep track of all the sales and details. I recently walked into a client home with all the info at my fingertips on my phone which helped me confidently recommend sizes and easily allowed me to discuss pricing — I got the client’s check last week.”
