Assembly was founded in 2021 to support a diverse range of contemporary artists working in photography, painting, mixed-media, and video. As a gallery and agency, we cultivate opportunities for artists in the fine art and commercial worlds. We offer advising for individual collectors and work closely with museums and institutions to expand collections with resonant works of art. In addition, we offer personalized consulting, creative production, and art-buying services for magazines and brands to help tell memorable stories. Assembly pursues projects that embrace collaboration and champion today's most exciting artistic voices.

Shane Lavalette has previously worked as the Director of Light Work, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting emerging and under-represented artists working in photography, where he held a leadership role from 2011-2021. He has also worked as an independent curator, publisher, writer, and consultant to collectors, institutions, photo editors, and artists. Lavalette has a broad range of professional experience in creative direction, production, editing, design, art buying, and fundraising. Throughout his career, he has been passionate about advocating to make the field more equitable for artists.
